First off, I just read my previous blog entry and please forgive me if I came across as a whiney bitch! I was just letting off some of the frustrating steam that comes w/ being a frustrated folksinger! Anyways, with that behind us, things started to look up for me...
I got a phone call from the Apex News and Observer. It was a reporter who was wanting to do a story on my CD release party on July 14th. She did a full telephone interview with me and all and man, talk about feeling 100 feet tall! I have never done a phone interview w/ "PRESS" before and it was quite fun. She also told me that it will be in the "insert" that goes in all of the sister papers with a total reader count of about 32,000 readers! WOW! Hell, just that this even happened was great for me!
So last night I went and saw The Two Man Gentlemen Band from NYC LIVE in Chapel Hill. I met these guys via My Space and the singer Andy Bean and I have been pen pals of sorts for a while now. So this was the first time we were getting to meet in person and it was great. The boys were just absolutely amazing and I would put them right up there w/ Old Crow Medicine Show. They put on a top notch show and play music that just entertains and really works the inuendos factor! I had a great time and the band and I pretty much swapped notes about our local scenes and stories. While it's unfortunate to hear, it was kinda nice to hear that it not only wasn't just me but that it wasn't just here that wasn't too "open" to this kind of music. They were telling me that in NYC, there's like 2-3 places that they play and that normally, they aren't really treated really well there. Anyways, it was great to just talk to them about "our" music and a friendship was born.
So to Andy, The Councilman, and Travis, thank you all for a great evening of music and conversation. You all are truely gentlemen of the utmost moral health!
